Beer can collaboration to help rescue pets

Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR) have partnered with Moon Dog Craft Brewery to launch a beer collaboration which will feature eight rescue pets on the cans.

In a nationwide free competition, owners of rescue pets have been invited to upload a photo of their dog (or cat) for the glory of having their face featured on Moon Dog’s limited release juicy pale ale beer cans.

Moon Dog and SCAR are seeking eight rescue pets for the campaign, which, it is hoped, will raise 20k for SCAR through beer sales and donations.

Rescue pet owners still have until 6 April to submit their animal’s photo on the SCAR website.

On top of the beer collaboration, SCAR will also be running a fundraising day at Moon Dog OG to coincide with the release of the beer in late May (tbc) and raise much needed funds.

Second Chance Animal Rescue was founded in 2008 after vet nurse and shelter volunteer, Marisa Debattista, witnessed firsthand how many animals needed—but were unable to receive—help due to limited resources. SCAR now has a shelter, animal hospital and vet (open to the public), and a dog grooming facility in Craigieburn.

“We offer a number of free services not readily available within the state—such as our Safe House for Pets program, where we find temporary homes for pets whose owners are domestic violence survivors, as well as our Outreach Program offering free medical care and pet food to those struggling financially,” Debattista said.

“To be able to offer these programs free to those needing them, we rely on sponsors, fundraising and donations.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Moon Dog on this exciting collaboration. With the word ‘dog’ in their name and their dog-loving ethos, it felt like a natural fit.”
