Just days after Australia’s first mushroom coffin burial took place in the Blue Mountains, the same Dutch-grown technology is now launching for pets across Australia and New Zealand. Loop Biotech’s FurEver™ pet urns offer families a natural, personal way to keep a companion’s ashes close or, when the time feels right, return them to the earth.

FurEver™ is grown from mycelium, the underground root network of mushrooms, and upcycled plant fibres, creating a lightweight memorial urn designed to biodegrade naturally when eventually returned to the earth. The urns are grown rather than manufactured in the conventional sense. Mycelium binds the natural fibres together, creating a lightweight, biodegradable memorial vessel with a distinctive natural appearance.

Families can paint and personalise FurEver™, keep their pet’s ashes close at home for as long as they wish, or, when the time feels right, return it to the earth as part of a burial, garden or tree-planting memorial.

“For many people, losing a pet means losing a member of the family,” Loop Biotech inventor and founder Bob Hendrikx said.

“We wanted to create a memorial that reflects that bond while also giving something back to nature. FurEver turns the end of one life into the beginning of new life.”

The Australian and New Zealand launch is being introduced with Arrow Bronze, Loop Biotech’s exclusive partner in the region.
