Following a sell-out January 2022 camp in Sydney, Future Vet Kids Camp’s April 2022 school holiday program is now open for registrations.
The veterinary-inspired program is designed and run by twin veterinarians Drs Audrey and Alison Shen from the Bondi Vet TV show and Aussie Mobile Vet. It caters to kids aged nine to 16 years, introducing them to the profession of veterinary medicine and surgery. It also encourages responsible pet ownership and a love and appreciation of all animals and their habitats.
The April 2022 camp will be held at Waverley College in Waverley, NSW from Tuesday, 19 to Saturday, 23 April. A Virtual Online VET Camp will run from Saturday, 9 to Saturday 23 April with the ability for kids to join the classroom virtually (during the face-to-face camp dates) and participate with questions in real time.
“The presenters and excursions organised are outstanding, including vet hospital visits, zoo visits and surgery specialist talks to dog training demonstrations, animal behaviour and more,” Dr Alison said.
“The older kids learn how to work through real life cases, interpret blood work and imaging and even draw blood from model pet arms and observe real life surgery.”
Dr Audrey said: “Whether or not the kids end up following the path to a career in veterinary medicine, simply being around lots of different animals and animal lovers will have such a positive impact on them.”
Future Vet Kids Camp is also offering PetSure scholarships for a total of 12 deserving participants—10 to attend the face-to-face camp and two to attend the virtual online program. Deadline is 4 April 2022.
