Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

This scaler is a new purchase that we’ve only had for a couple of weeks. As soon as I tried it, I knew it was better than any other scaler I had used in the past. Dentals are becoming more popular and frequent in our practice, and using this tool saves a lot of time. It used to take about 40 minutes with our old scaler but now I can get a dental done in half that time.
What’s good about it
The tips are very fine and accurate, allowing you to get into smaller gaps. It removes plaque quickly and efficiently, making the job much easier. It has a bright LED light built into the end of the handpiece that illuminates the working area beautifully. Instead of having to wear the headlight, I can just grab the scaler and get to work.
The unit is plugged into mains power and the output can be easily set to the desired level. It can also be used for sub-gingival scaling to a depth of about two millimetres. The handpiece and the tips are both autoclaveable.
I use this unit with every dental. It’s good for dogs and cats and is a very versatile piece of equipment. The handle is a hard silicone plastic that fits the hand nicely. It feels like a big pen. The handpiece transfers the feel of the tooth through to your hand which is a great benefit when undertaking a dental.
What’s not so good
The only problem is that, depending on the sensitivity of the settings, it can be a little noisy when you’re on the teeth. Changing the setting or the angle always helps.
