PetBooqz is practice management software specifically designed for veterinary clinics. It’s a cost-effective, cloud-based system that works extremely well.
What’s good about it
One of the biggest advantages of PetBooqz is that it’s from a local company. Its head office is in Rowville, Victoria, which is close to our practice. When things go wrong, as they invariably will, I don’t want to be contacting an email address and getting a response five days later. They have a fairly small team and the same staff members pick up the phone when you call. They are very responsive to any issues.
As PetBooqz is a cloud-based system, once you have logged in, you can access it from anywhere, on any device. There is no need to back up any information.
It’s compatible with all the major laboratories, making it easy to request bloods or other tests. Over the years, I’ve worked at many clinics and been exposed to many different software systems. PetBooqz is intuitive and takes fewer clicks to get anything done.
Another pro is that a steady stream of updates is emailed through to us. Each update unlocks features or streamlines systems. It’s constantly evolving so there’s no need to buy a new version because the old version is obsolete.
What’s not so good
When you sign up, there is a limit to the number of log-ins that can be on the system at any one time. We were initially on the three-to-nine user level, with the highest tier allowing more than 20 users. On busier days, we sometimes needed more than nine users. The system locks you out if you exceed that number and a manager needs to kick a user out before someone else can log in.
