VetNotes is an app that’s downloaded onto your phone or computer. It records your consult audio with a client then converts the audio into written notes.
What’s good about it
It’s easy to use. I record using the VetNotes app on my phone or computer. I then copy and paste into my practice management system. VetNotes differentiates between speakers and uses AI to write the consult notes.
VetNotes saves me heaps of time, particularly when I have a busy session. It reduces my mental workload, allows me to see a few more patients and sometimes lets me go home earlier. It gives me peace of mind knowing my notes have been automatically written up.
When I’m dealing with a complicated case that has a lot of issues, VetNotes comprehensively records all the little details. It catches everything I need to address so nothing is missed. If a brand name or condition is spelled incorrectly, you manually edit and the AI program will remember it next time. The more you use it, the more accurate it becomes. I used the term ‘mucocutaneous carcinoma’ and it nailed it on the first go.
I also like that I have a record of all referrals and recommendations. Clients can get difficult about what was, or was not, said and VetNotes provides hard proof.
VetNotes is an Australian product that handles the Aussie accent and my foreign accent with ease. It offers a one-month free trial and is then accessed on a subscription basis.
What’s not so good
When I place my phone on the consult room table to record, I’ve noticed that it does chew up a lot of battery power but it’s fine with my computer.
I’ve just completed a period as a Locum in a practice that has started using Vet ores and I cannot speak highly enough of it. The client said that scratchy eye thing and up came grid keratotomy. My convoluted histories from clients are reproduced as as salient list of pertinent facts and as an older vet with poor keyboard skills I am now producing the best clinical records ever and sticking to my consult schedule
