We hope you can come and meet our team from Greencross Vets and our emergency & speciality hospitals who are passionate about building a better future for our industry, creating a culture of difference.
- We believe in empowerment and support at every level, on every path.
- We celebrate diversity and we welcome inclusion at every level.
- We are excited to bring together all the brilliant minds in our industry under one roof!
Right in the middle of the busy exhibition hall, you’ll find our oasis of calm. Our serene space is next to the chill out zone where we want you to have a breath of fresh air. Here’s a look at what we have planned:
On Thursday Morning Veterinary Wellness Consultant and Coach Cathy Warburton will speak about ‘Keeping Fuel in the Tank on your Shift’. This isn’t your stock standard wellness talk, here’s a bit about what Cathy will be covering off:
Times are tough in the veterinary profession—we all know it. Many of us are arriving home emotionally exhausted. You get home, have a quick chat to your family or friends, eat some healthy food, do a spot of yoga, get as much sleep as you can, and turn up to work with your tank ¾ full ready to make a difference. Amazing effort! Fast forward a few consults and phone calls, a procedure and two difficult interactions with clients and you can feel that your fuel level is low. You still have a lot to get through. So let’s talk about what you and your team can do to keep your fuel tank topped up during the day, so that you stay energied, well and motivated to keep doing the work you love.
At Greencross we love to have a good time! Join us for Happy Hour on Monday evening at 6pm where drinks are on us so you can focus on relaxing and making friends.
We’ll have lots of giveaways, showbags, free goodies and competitions – with massive prizes to be won! More details will be provided at the stand.
The important part
The most important thing we hope to achieve through the AVA conference is uniting our industry, because we’re better together. At Greencross Vets, good mental health is one of our strategic priorities. Our goal is to support team members to be resilient, feel supported and feel confident to support those around them. We have developed a range of workplace wellness processes and activities to promote good mental health. These include HR systems, comprehensive training programs that aren’t just about your clinical skills and our own Mental Health First Aid courses. Greencross Vets is Australia’s first Gold Skilled Workplace veterinary group. We have worked hard to invest in developing mental health first aid skills in our people, but also show a strong commitment to embedding the program into our organisation’s culture through actions like senior leadership support, relevant policies and creating Mental Health First Aid Officer roles.
We hope to meet you at the AVA Conference soon! Come by stand 80-83 on May 22-27.
